Senior Project Manager, Acivico
‘ A real honour to share the fantastic team achievement for successfully delivering the National College for High Speed Rail project on time, within budget and to the demanding end user requirements! Our joint efforts have created an important high profile educational and economic asset for Birmingham, Midlands and the UK to stimulate the next generation of British engineers to take on the exciting opportunities offered by the UK and International Rail Sector. The past two years have been very enjoyable working with the Project Team …’
Associate, Bond Bryan Architects
‘….. I also wanted to thank the DBS team for their work on this project. It’s fair to say that, timing wise, your introduction to the project was far from ideal which must have given you plenty of head-aches. Nevertheless, we were generally impressed with the way which you turned it around and on the whole managed to accommodate most of our Architectural whims! Hopefully we will all receive some good publicity from this project. You also now have the bonus of an in-house BIM expert in John Wensley!’
Senior Engineer - Core Network Transformation
'The apprentices that you sent to Tannochside to remove the secure waste did a fantastic job and managed to clear everything, it was touch and go whether it could be do in time but we did have a bit of good luck when the first collection turned up. Please extend my thanks to Nathan, Nathan and Zac and of course Alan for getting on with the job, putting in the long hours and not complaining.
What a great bunch and thank you and your team for stepping in at short notice to help us out.'

'I would invite you to join in with me in congratulating DBS for all their planning, efforts and works (often unsocial hours) that have gone in to give us all a trouble free transition of the critical rooms switch overs here at Lloyd House during the last few weeks, the last being the Armoury yesterday.
Please pass on my (WDC) sincere thanks to all DBS Team members involved here at Lloyd House, for all yours and their efforts to date in achieving the above, and obviously those that are now challenging you to reach our final goal. Your team on site are an asset and admiration that you can be proud of.
Just a quick email to say thank you to your team working on the EFA projects. Paul Nicolson and his team have worked in a very helpful and professional way to complete Reigate School and are well on with others.
Please could you pass on my thanks to all the team, and Paul in particular, who has put a lot of work into the final stages for the client who demanded a considerable amount of his time and paperwork.
'I would like to express my sincere appreciation with the excellent installation your site team have achieved lead by Brian, Sean & Luke on the Hammersmith project.
It has been refreshing working with a M & E team that has such a professional work ethos.'
Consultant to the Education Funding Agency
'The ICT solution, decant and installation of the ICT M&E has been excellent, and all school and contractor staff involved have been incredibly helpful and flexible when required. Thanks to all those involved.'
'I need to send this mail to you to congratulate DBS on the works they have carried out for me over the last couple of weeks.
I have worked with you over many years on small works, major projects the lot and I have to say the results in the last few days have to me been right up there with DBS best achievements.
From placing the order to the completion of the job the service has been nothing but first class and it is a credit to DBS.
All levels of your organisation have been involved in some way or another and whoever it has been always gives their all and they are committed to the cause and conduct themselves in the right manner.
Finally I must say a massive thank you to “Rizo” who is something else.
He really is a special person and the work, hours and skill level he has produced over the last few days has been beyond belief.
I know what to expect when I work with DBS but I still felt I had to put something in writing following these recent project works.
Well done to all once again.'
SVP and Genral Counsel
'I wanted to let you know that the feedback from our side on M Stage is fantastic. This is hard on heels of you finishing off J Stage.
I know we aren't always the easiest to deal with but your straightforward approach and professionalism has seen us through.
Thank you and the team for a job really well done.'
Interior Identity Consultant
Before the dust finally settles amongst the pines and broad leaf trees at Woburn Forest, I would just like to offer my congratulations on the job and say, what a pleasure it has been to work with the DBS team on this prestigious scheme for Center Parcs.
Maber and I look forward to working with you all again.
I just wanted to say your team down at Woburn have been faultless all the way through the project and a credit to the business. Brian has been solid as usual and more recently Mark Smith's input helped massively in getting systems commissioned. I'm sure I speak for everyone on my side of the fence, but lets put it this way, your involvement with Center Parcs on the larger schemes is in a much better place now than it was before!
Regional Director, Building Engineering
Following a rigorous tender and procurement procedure Bowmer and Kirkland were appointed for Phase 1 of the construction of a new data centre for a specialist technology client. Phase 1 involves the construction of the building, all infrastructure and the fit-out of the first of two data halls including initial client migration.
At all stages Bowmer and Kirkland have involved their building services contractor Derry Building Services.
In our opinion this type of association is considered a significant “tick in the box” for data centre projects. This is because the quality and coordination of the building services installation within the building provide an efficient, resilient and maintainable installation - key to the overall success of such projects.
Bowmer and Kirkland and Derry Building Services continue to liaise closely, working together seamlessly in a proactive an non-adversarial manner.
Excellent job done by your guys as was expected, the customer is very happy with everything. Thanks very much for your help, expertise and speed of response.
Just a short note to pass on our appreciation to all at Derry’s and Keith Slinn of Flaktwoods for the professional approach taken to carry out the remedial works to AHU 4 over the last couple of days.
While it took a little while (and some patience), the organisation and arrangements worked very well. It has been a good team effort by all involved.
With SGP being so busy we sometimes fail to take the opportunity to offer our appreciation for a job well done.
Automation Support Engineer
I wanted to give some feedback (this has not been requested may I add) with regards to Derry’s whilst working with them throughout my time on the BioCel projects here at Alderley Park.
As a relatively new member to the area and the team myself I am more than aware the task to hand for all has been a challenging one. Amongst many things Derry’s have mainly been here to support the build and development of several complex automated platforms and I would like to thank Derry’s who have acted and responded in an extremely professional way with all aspects of the project – yes there have been challenges but given the scope and the overall demand on Rob and Sean in particular, they have maintained their integrity and professionalism to an exemplary level. I have worked with a vast variety of people both contract and AZ in my time here and their attitude and overall efforts have been outstanding and a real credit to Sam and Derry’s as a whole.
Sam and the guys, even with challenges in terms of expectation from SES, for example the technical file, have been more than willing to support all our needs and more to the point open about how to achieve this at our requests.
Overall, please take this as extremely positive feedback and I can say it has been an absolute pleasure to work with them in what could be described as one of the more challenging and demanding areas of the business to operate in.
The reason for my letter is to pass my sincerest thanks onto you and your team for all of their efforts in completing the project. I know things were tough and that many of your team spent the best part of 18 months away from their family and friends, but their enthusiasm, professionalism and sense of fun and good natured spirit was always evident.
This is the very first time I have written a letter of thanks following the completion of a project, and I felt that in this instance it was the least that I could do.
I look forward to working with Derry Building Services Ltd again the future.
I feel I have to put into writing the fantastic job Rizo has done this weekend. Without his superb work and knowledge we would not have been ready in time. You know how highly I rate Rizo and I believe this should be recognised, he is a real credit to his employers. Also thanks to Derry’s for the service I have become to expect from you.
Can you please pass on my personal thanks and appreciation for the efforts your team have put in at Ferneley. The handover today went like clockwork and the Client, LCC, as well as the school were ‘over the moon’ with the new building. John paid particular tribute to Derry’s efforts in the progress meeting and commented on the smoothness of the whole design and build process from start to finish, a true sign of Partnering and Teamwork.
Just a note to say a BIG thank you to you and your team for another excellent result delivered without ‘fuss’ and ahead of time. The acid test for engineering services of course is to see them work as the building is used; but you have helped create an excellent starting point. I am sure the building will receive national acclaim in Education and that it will stimulate all who have the privilege to work within it. Please pass on my sincere thanks to all the team for a job well done!
M&E Projects Manager
Thanks for your continuing good work you and your team are completing on the SPoF Projects. Now more than ever we are all in the spotlight of the business and we must all maintain this very high level of attention to detail and never let ourselves become complacent.
I have worked with your team on site at Charnwood for a few years and want to take this opportunity to express my thanks for the way they work. I have not been asked to make comment but sometimes human nature is to be more vocal at complaining rather than praising. I have found all the team of similar commitment but I do single out Gary Harrison, Leigh Baillion, Sam Sissons and Colin Head for their dedication and professionalism. I am on the AZ UK Safe Systems of Work team and on many occasions have used Derrys risk assessments and method statements to demonstrate good working practice.
Please find below a note from John Humphries thanking you all for the contribution to making the summer holiday works across a number of schemes a success delivering all work faces to a very high standard, on time and to very happy head teachers. A ‘thank you’ from the client goes a long way, making all the hard work worthwhile and I would like to add my thanks as well.
Just a note of special thanks and gratitude for the works you’ve undertaken during the holiday period. The works achieved at Long Field, St. Bots, St. Barts and KE7 were, at the outset, of great concern to me in terms of the shortage of time; but having been round all sites this morning you’ve allayed my fears by reaching completion. Could you please thank your teams and make them aware of my gratitude. This especially applies to Luke at Long Field which I think was a particularly difficult task.
Principal Production Engineer
I would like to point out how extremely impressed I was by the positive and helpful attitude that Martin Marshall showed during his recent visits to the Rolls Royce AR&O facility D site Derby. A number of people commented on how polite he was and conscientious of his surroundings, which cannot be said for the majority of contractors that we have on site.
It was a pleasure to deal with Martin due to all of the above items and also because he ensured that he communicated both what he was doing and when he had completed his tasks and also confirming that he was leaving the site.
Everyone is eager to complain about aspects of work that have not gone to plan but no one seems to pass on praise when a job is well done but in this instance I believe that Martin’s employers should be made aware of how well he represents their company.
The Derry Building Services site team exhibited a positive approach to resolving issues and helped to create a very positive environment within the Project Team. The success of the project was the relationship between the contractors and the users as the building was to remain operational for the duration, of which the DBS site team contributed significantly.
Head of Sustainability & Continuous Development
You may be aware that we undertake ‘Quality Audits’ on all of our projects to review the finished quality of the works. On the 30th January 2009 we audited the above project and our Quality Award Panel gave your works a score of 9 out of 10. This score constitutes a Quality Award, and we would like to formally acknowledge this excellent achievement. We would be most grateful if you would pass on both our congratulations and thanks to the Project Team for all the time, effort and commitment that was clearly given to achieve this outstanding result.
