The Charter Building

Client:

Landid & Brockton

Contractor:

Bowmer + Kirkland

M&E Value:

£11.2 Million

Completion Date:

December 2016

About The Project:

The project comprised the refurbishment and extension of an existing 1980s building to provide 220,000 square foot of high specification office floor plate. This makes it the largest development in Uxbridge to date - and one of the largest in London and the South East. The existing building has been altered beyond recognition with the internal floors, walls, ceilings and services being removed. The envelope was fully scaffolded to allow access to remove the original gantry walkway systems and glazed curtain walling that enclosed it. Structural demolition was carried out to the existing lift core area and the external turrets were removed to create a more modern looking shape to the building.

The Southern and Northern entrances now connect through to the atrium creating the new Street, an area to be filled with cafes, restaurants and break out areas. The full height atrium creates a dramatic environment with glazing to all four sides and punched out office pods with feature acoustic timber paneling.

Within the basement there are shower facilities, store rooms, security rooms and plant rooms. Access into the car park is controlled by secure barriers, with parking facilities on all four basement levels.
